How to compress an image to 100KB
- Drop your photo into the box above, or click to choose it. 100 KB is already selected.
- The tool tries quality levels automatically and keeps the highest-quality JPEG that is 100 KB or smaller.
- Check the preview, then click Download.
If the image cannot reach 100 KB at full size, the tool also reduces its pixel dimensions step by step and tells you when it has done so. You can pick a different target, or type a custom size, at any time.
When you need an image under 100KB
A 100 KB limit is common for profile pictures, document scans on application forms, and email-friendly photos. At 100 KB, a typical phone photo can keep good detail at around 1000 to 1500 pixels wide.
How the size is measured
Websites disagree on whether a kilobyte is 1,000 or 1,024 bytes. To be safe, this tool treats 100 KB as 100,000 bytes, the stricter of the two, so the file passes upload checks that use either definition. The result is saved as JPEG because JPEG gives the smallest files for photos and is accepted almost everywhere.
All processing happens in your browser. Your photo is never uploaded, which matters for ID photos and signatures.
